In 2021, Akira Medical Imaging + Wellness decided to rebrand and expand to support women’s health and wellness and to provide a new standard in healthcare in the Capital Region with a vision for patient experience to “not just being cared for—feeling cared for.”
Envision and its consultant team partnered with Akira to provide architectural, engineering, and interior design services for the new facility at 400 Patroon Creek, where patients can receive screening, diagnostic exams, and support services in an environment that prioritizes caring, wellness, and compassion. Designed as a spa-like environment—through strategies focusing on visual and acoustical privacy, lighting, furniture, and finishes, colors and textures that enhance a calm and tranquil space—the new Akira strives to care for patients through providing a new standard of healthcare where patients feel safe, supported, and valued.
The work included initial program development for approximately 7,500 SF. Envision engaged with the clients to review and validate square footage and partnered with the client project team to assess available suites within 400 Patroon Creek to select a location best suited to the project vision and patient experience. We collaborated with the client’s branding specialist to incorporate the brand language into the built environment, and provided construction oversight and client support through the ribbon-cutting and launch. As a business occupancy, the project did not require New York State Department of Health Article 28 review and approval.
